THROUGH THE YEARS, THE PLANTWORKS REMAINS TOP NATIONAL LEADER IN EXTERIOR COMMERCIAL POLYBLEND® MATERIALS

Plantworks has used UV Rated Polyblend® materials for over 20 years. In recent years, UV Rated Polyblend® components have been used to create complete landscapes, key permanent property accents and replica topiary plant forms. The manufacturing of architectural elements replicating natural landscaping began when major projects had design requirements that live plants could not achieve.

WHAT IS POLYBLEND®?

Polyblend® is a polymer and by definition is a blend of PVC type of high density plastics similar to PVC pipes and automobile body parts. The UV Rated product components are spun and pressure molded. This process forces all air out of the component pieces and causes their color to be part of the entire finished piece. All foliage and flower components have steel spine reinforcements molded into them. All Polyblend® components are not only fade proof but also rust proof – meaning that Polyblend® can be truly used as an exterior building material.

Polyblend® has several major property advantages:

•             Minimal long-term maintenance costs

•             Environmentally friendly (a “green” building material) and uses little water

•             100% design integrity: instant color and mature growth

•             Limited eight year color fast guarantee and warranty

•             Tested for wind, weather and climate

•             Fixed, initial cost able to be amortized

The primary foliage line includes: Cypress, Juniper, Boxwood, Lirope, Sago palms, Mahonia, and assorted ivy plants. The floral line includes: Bromeliads, Bougainvillea, Geraniums and Gardenias. Plantworks will custom design items using Polyblend® products to client specifications of the project.

Polyblend® is Field Tested and Guaranteed

Plantworks has field tested Polyblend® material’s exterior uses on major commercial projects for over 20 years. Polyblend® has proven to be a sound exterior grade material and held colorfast in the most extreme conditions – from the harsh desert sun of Las Vegas to the cooler, rainy temperatures of Washington State.

Plantworks guarantees all specially manufactured Polyblend® exterior items using Polyblend® components colorfast for an eight-year period from the time of installation. Polyblend® material has proven to be color fast beyond this warranty with projects now over 10 years.

Original color and Plantworks Color Fast Warranty is limited to the original “True” color of the basic color of the component. The guarantee is limited to the cost of components only. This warranty does not cover shipping, installation, materials or removal of existing product. For more information, please contact Plantworks.

Exterior Artificial Plants

Exterior artificial plants have recently become all the rage in the exterior artificial plant industry. Outdoor plants are a comfortable solution for private homes and businesses. Sometimes individuals don’t have that “green thumb” gift, or they prefer not to spend their time anxiously worrying about when to water the plants, whether the east facing window is best and how Feng Shui fits into the whole scheme. Exterior artificial plants are infused with UV inhibitors that defend them from the sun’s destructive UV rays that can cause fading. Consumers and businesses will have different reasons for choosing man-made plants but they have one cause that is similar: bug infestation. There is no need for a crusade to rid the planet of every live plant. Nothing can substitute for the fresh smell of a tree in bloom or its beauty. However, it’s a matter of convenience and vanity that drives some people to purchase or rent synthetic plants in the first place. We’ve all walked into an office or home decorated with dusty, strangled, starving, thirsty plants shamelessly on display for all to see. That’s why artificial plants are a perfect choice for many.

There are a number of exterior artificial plant varieties. The most trendy outdoor plants consist of Boxwoods and Podocarpus bushes. Podocarpus plants are used in numerous ways, such as spiral configurations, wreath designs along with Bonsai and ball topiary. Other interesting outdoor plants are Ivy bushes, Rhododendron bushes and Banyan bushes. Flowering artificial Bougainvillea, Gardenia and Geranium shrubbery can also add an enticing emphasis to a pool or patio design.

The majority of outdoor artificial plants can be bought either un-potted or potted. Potted plants are provided with a weighted plastic grow pot. Un-potted plants are delivered with a exposed stem or trunk. To install an un-potted artificial plant calculate the height of the stem or trunk part you want hidden underground. Dig a hole in proportion to the size of the base stem being installed. To give the cement more sticking power wrap a heavy gauge wire encircling the trunk, while leaving a few inches of wire sticking out on either side. Mix the cement and pour into the hole. Afterward place your artificial outdoor plant into the cement, locking it in place so that it dries upright. After the cement has dried adding decorative mulch or dirt around the base will give an even more natural appearance. Potted outdoor plants can be positioned in an inexpensive pot made from paper Mache for instance. Dig the appropriate sized hole and place the pot into the ground making sure that the plant is level and perfectly upright. Conceal the planter with soil and bundle the soil tightly around the bottom of the planter. Decorative mulch placed around the base will finish-up nicely. Decorative planters are another alternative that will bring life to any outdoor man-made plant.

In time all synthetic plants begin to degrade. However, new procedures in UV protection will hamper any fading of the poly-blend materials used in manufacturing synthetic plants. Actually many outdoor plants can last well over ten years and still look like new. It will take a bit of work on the part of the owner of the plant though. Regular washing with a damp cloth will assist in keeping dirt and oil residue from building up. Owners of outdoor plants living in regions with standard rainfall will find themselves a bit lucky. Any grime build-up will be washed away and all is fresh and new again. Of course, if there is no rainfall you can always hose your plants down. It may make you feel a bit less guilty about all the compliments you receive about your beautiful outdoor plant landscape. At least the neighbors will see you watering your plants and it will confirm, in their minds anyways, that their suspicions were wrong and your plants are actually real. In the final analysis artificial outdoor plants can save you time, unnecessary concern over who will water the plants while your on vacation and presents a solution for those who would rather not bother with bona fide plants in the first place.
